I don’t like Love Never Dies. POTO fans don’t like it for a number of reasons, but for me it’s the lyrics. The music is wonderful, and I could even possibly get past the contrived story if the lyrics were better. They’re… simple, for the lack of a better word. The lyrics of Phantom of the Opera were mature and complex. To me the lyrics of Love Never Dies, at their best, are just the kind of thing you’d hear playing on the radio. Their only saving grace is Ramin Karimloo. This is one of the best songs of Love Never Dies, the one that comes closest to Phantom of the Opera quality. And Ramin owns it. He makes me love this song. Yes, I do have a crush on this guys voice.

The 25th anniversary at the Royal Albert Hall special renewed my interest in POTO. Even now I can’t stop watching it. Ramin is an incredible singer, and Sierra is so likable she made even Christine endearing. These two will always be the Phantom and Christine to me.
