32 K Icons
Posted by Miya on March 11th, 2013

I spent most of yesterday downloading and reuploading all my avatars/LJ icons to the site. Instead of using a third party script, I’m now using the WordPress gallery feature to display all my icons. All links have been updated to reflect the change, and I’ve added some new avatars to celebrate the move. Up first are 32 100×100 icons of the anime K.

Nani Mai Hani?
Posted by Miya on May 24th, 2012

I had to search through hundreds of icons to find that picture. It’s no secret that I’m a huge Code Geass fan. So when I was trying to come up with a new domain name for my blog, creating one relevant to Code Geass was high on my list. Two the domains I wanted, one Code Geass and one not, were unfortunately taken and I wasn’t able to buy one from it’s owner. That was really hard because I really wanted that domain. I did come up with a great one instead though. It’s incredibly silly and most people won’t understand it, but those that do will find it as entertaining as I do. For those unfamiliar with the “nani mai hani” meme, it comes from the way a character said “what, my honey,” in an episode of Code Geass. Like many things Code Geass it took on a life of its own. As you can see there are several ways of spelling this. I chose the one I’m most familiar with. It doesn’t matter because none of them are really “correct.”

New Layout
Posted by Miya on May 23rd, 2012

There’s a new layout, this time featuring Princess Azula from Avatar: The Last Airbender. I did my best to make it as cross browser and resolution compatible as possible, but some things (site title, navigation, and MyAnimeList.net banner) were impossible for me to align correctly for everyone. If this bothers you you can click the 1366×768 link in the welcome text to view this as close to the way the layout is supposed to look as possible without actually using 1366×768. This layout was a nightmare to code, far more than they usually are. I’m not even going to think about how long I spent on the coding. I’ve officially given up on trying to fix it anymore. The layout itself I spent more than 24 hours, almost straight, designing. It looks simple, but it’s the most complicated layout I’ve ever made. It took about 30 layers to make the background of the image look the way it does, then Azula had to be removed from her original background which added a couple more layers to it, then the lightning layers. I couldn’t make the lightning as bright as I wanted so I made the title and navigation glow in an electric blue color to make up for it. Unfortunately that’s why the layout doesn’t align properly for everyone, because to get the header stuff in place I had to position them absolutely. Basically that means I had to define exactly what position I wanted them in, which makes it only align right for people using resolutions the same as mine, 1366×768. What the correct positions are vary between resolutions and browser sizes. I’m lucky I managed to make the content and sidebar align, and that’s only because I removed the header and made it a background image instead, then made a new transparent header. There’s probably a better way to do this, but damned if I know it. The current coding isn’t ideal, but it’s the best that I can do. Amber has a new layout up as well. At least I managed to get the coding on that one right.

What’s Going On
Posted by Miya on May 22nd, 2012

I’ve known for a while now that I’m no longer interested in blogging like I used to be. I was never able to keep a diary, but blogging worked for me. It helped me vent and support me in my darkest hours years. While nothing has changed for the better, and I still feel the same as I used to, mentally, emotionally, and physically, I don’t see any point in posting the same things over and over again. There is very little variation in my life, and nothing worthy of blogging about. The majority of my old posts have been made private and I’m starting over again. Any personal blogs will be either private or password protected from now on. New posts will mostly be devoted to interesting things I’ve found online, probably videos, and site updates. Most new content will be anime graphics and icons/avatars.

So that’s what’s going on here right now.

76 Wallander Icons
Posted by Miya on July 21st, 2010

76 icons of the British television show Wallander have been added. Wallander is a British mystery/detective series of based on a Swedish series of television shows and books. It stars Kenneth Branagh as detective Kurt Wallander, and airs on BBC One in the UK and PBS in the United States. I don’t love Wallander. I don’t have the same kind of feelings for it as Poirot, which I absolutely adore, but I do like it. I don’t know why. Since PBS is airing it’s last “new” Poirot episode on Sunday, I found myself missing Wallander. I found out it’s not playing until October, and since I never focus on the future, I can’t look forward to it. So I made some icons to make myself feel better. Tomorrow I’ll do a real blog post, and a couple days later I’ll add some more icons. Definitely Kuroshitsuji, but other than that I haven’t decided on which other anime/manga series to do.
